The Bahamas Loosens Travel Restrictions for Visitors

As of May 1st, The Bahamas will loosen travel restrictions for visitors. Here are the highlights.

  • As of May 1, those traveling to The Bahamas from outside The Bahamas will be exempt from taking a COVID 19 test once they are vaccinated and have passed the 2-week immunity period.
  • All travelers and residents must still adhere to the social distancing and mask wearing protocols, but once fully vaccinated, they can resume indoor dining.
  • Those within The Bahamas that have been fully vaccinated will be immediately exempt from COVID 19 test requirements when traveling throughout the Islands.
  • Non-vaccinated travelers entering The Bahamas will still have to receive a negative test within five days of flying and adhere to the current rules in effect (before or after May 1st)

The best place to learn all about the new rules is from www.bahamas.com/tourism-reopening. For boaters, the best place is from The Association of Bahamas Marinas.

The loosened travel restrictions will still be require boaters to complete an electronic Travel Health Visa. This will be required to travel among the different islands but the requirements will be much easier for those who are vaccinated. More information can be found HERE.

All of The Bahamas are great but the Islands that offer the most tropical experiences are Eleuthera, Staniel Cay, Exuma and Abaco and her Out Islands. Abaco is still recovering from Hurricane Dorian but is making a great recovery. If given the choice, I’d consider visiting these places first because they really need your business. Consider Elbow Cay and Green Turtle Cay if you feel inclined. Also, the area including and south of The Abaco Club at Winding Bay was virtually untouched by the storm. There are some amazing places to visit as well as some world-class fishing lodges like Blackfly Lodge.

Staniel Air & Exuma Adventures have put together awesome day trips that are available to book now. Your flight originates from Ft. Lauderdale and your day of adventure consists of visiting the famous swimming pigs, Compass Cay nurse sharks, Thunderball Grotto and more! More information can be found HERE. When The Bahamas loosens travel restrictions beginning on May 1st, you’ll have a much easier time enjoying these trips.

Consider Boat U.S. for your boating needs.  They are a great organization that provides numerous resources to improve your life on the water AND trailering your boat.  Click HERE for more information.
